Does mv_min_string not work for anyone else?

I'm having trouble geting the mv_min_string to work on minivend 3.12.  As a
matter of fact, it fails in the demo also.  I submitted a bug report, but
it was closed stating that it is not a bug.  I found one other person with
a simular configuration who is having the same problem.  The similarity
between both of us is Solaris 2.6.

Is anyone else running Minivend 3.12 on Solaris 2.6 and if so, does the
mv_min_string work for you.  Does anyone have a suggestion of why it does
not work?

FYI:  When I say it does not work, what I mean is if I leave the search
spec blank or < mv_min_string I do not get the required error message and
the whole catalog is displayed in the results page or atlest whatever
matches the sting if its not blank. I really need the mv_min_string to be
atleast 2.

Any help would be appreciated.
