Re: [mv] MiniVend is installed (?) but the demo catalogdoesn'tappear

Hi,

Perhaps the following will help you setting up the catalog.

Example of first settings in Catalog.cfg; catalog name: "winesite"

# Define the site-specific information
# The servername as specified in your httpd config files
Variable SERVER_NAME blobbie.wino.com
# The cgi-directory
Variable CGI_URL /cgi-bin/winesite
# The URL of the secure server
Variable SECURE_SERVER https://blobbies.wino.com
# The e-mail address of the order handlers
Variable ORDERS_TO olaz@blobbie.wino.com
# The reference to directory with images in /home.httpd/html/
Variable IMAGE_DIR /winesite/images
# The reference to the directory where usually the "index.html"-home # page
is.
Variable DOCROOT /home/httpd/html
# setting for demo purposes
Variable SAMPLEHTML /home/httpd/html/winesite
Variable SAMPLEURL http://blobbie.wino.com/winesite
# ditto

Succes.

Fred

Note: Catalogs should be in the home-directory of the user who runs the
Minivend server!! e.g.: /home/user_name/catalogs/winesite

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply so thoroughly. You have
given me much food for thought.
I am having trouble getting my ISP to answer questions. Here is the info I
do
have:

> maybe you have not created a catalog (bin/makecat simple)?
I believe that has been done (by them) because all the 'Art Store' demo
stuff is present in my 'pages' and 'products' folders.

> Do you know about your cgi-bin root?
  The 'reconfig' file says: $Script    = '/cgi-bin/titanic';

> Do you know about your document root?
> Do you know about your catalogs root?
No, I really don't know what you mean by those things.

What I want to be able to do is type a URL and see that "demo ArtStore
catalog" in action. Then I think I'll really be getting somewhere. My site
URL is:
http://209.40.105.51/

When I try the following, I get "File Not Found"
http://209.40.105.51/cgi-bin
http://209.40.105.51/cgi-bin/titanic
http://209.40.105.51/cgi-bin/titanic/catalog.html
http://209.40.105.51/cgi-bin/titanic/flypage.html

(catalog.html and flypage.html are both in my 'pages' directory)

What needs to be in the URL in order for the server to serve up the catalog?

Thank you very very much,
Rob Maurer
