Yes, certainly, here is some more information.
I don't know what you mean by 'start the MiniVend server.' The ISP installed 
MiniVend, and they tell me they've got the daemon running on the server. 
Maybe this is a key step which I have missed. (I don't know how to 'start' it)
When I browse to my URL (http://209.40.105.51/ for now), all I see is the 
page I've got saved as 'index.html' in my public (HTML) directory. When I 
remove this page, you instead see a list of directories, just as you would 
expect. No catalog at all, no sign of it (no error messages either.)
