Installation Woes
Newbie problems. If anyone can give me a hand I would appreciate it
immensely. I chose this solution over having my client spend $15,000 on a
Microsoft alternative (which they were willing to do), mostly because I like
the open source philosophy, but I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure
what I've done wrong.
Basically, I'm getting the "Minivend server unavailable" error, which the
Minivend FAQ explains is pretty much the most common error and is almost
always a permissions problem. I'm fairly new to administrating Linux, so I'm
not completely positive if my permissions setup is bulletproof, but I
*think* I've got everything right.
The Minivend server is running as a non-superuser user, and the "simple" cgi
is set up as a setuid. All of the Minivend files and directories themselves
are owned by the same non-su user that controls the Minivend daemon. I
thought that the ScriptAlias directory might be suspect, but I've tested it
with a trivial CGI script and that works.
I'm running under the UNIX protocol. I've tried copying tlink to
/usr/httpd/cgi-bin/simple, but that ain't workin' either.
Help!!! Please!!! I'm desperate!!! I'm well within my time window on this
project, so that's good, but I'd rather not go any later than today,
tomorrow at the latest with this installation and testing/familiarity phase.
Is there anything in detail that anyone can tell me?
Thanks in advance,
G. McClure
