Still Getting Premature end of script Message

OK Gang I have recompiled the kernel to accomodate 512 unix ptys. Thats
as close as I can get to meeting the specs called for by the Minivend
FAQ for errors of this type.
system is as follows:
Debian: slink (stable) with kernel ver 2.2.4 compiled for dual
166\cpu/586. No Probs here!
perl ver 5.0.0.4
apache-ssl port 8080
apache port 80
128 Mgb ram
7Gbs of drive space with a 130 Mgb swap drive ( the max that is allowed
on this system)

Turned off the minivend server that was running in memory.
I then completely removed all traces of Minivend fron the system.
Unmounted all of the drives that have server software on them as I
noticed that minivend picked up the directories that I was using for
backup and put that info into makecat.cfg (kinda wierd).
Installed new Minivend-3.12. followed thru the script WITH NO PROBLEMS.
hit the try it link and the store opened right up.
hit the buy it link on the top item and here it is again:

 I really need some help. I did read up on all the stuff in the FAQ
about this problem.
I am NOT running Free BSD or anything that would require  the CHILD_MAX
thing to be resolvd.
I do not believe this is a server problem (either apache or minivend)as
the flypage catalog works fine and because ver 3.12beta13 worked fine.
also the first instance of using the script is when it opens the store
and links to the page to buy from and that seems to work.
ANY Ideas are appreciated.
