I did a similiar thing for "Featured" items:

The code is in a [loop se...]
        [set isfeatured][loop-field featured][/set]
        [if scratch isfeatured eq 'yes']
        A Featured Product<P>
        [/if]

[/loop]

The field 'featured' is in products.asc.
