Recommendations for learning Perl

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that mastering MiniVend requires 
a basic understanding of Perl syntax, even if one never plans on 
actually using Perl code in a catalog.  So, anybody have any 
recommendations (online, book, whatever) for a good Perl beginner's 
guide?

I promise this will be my last Perl-related question, at least here.
