Yes, MiniVend 4 has some things. For instance, it's default is file-based
sessions which are much better for NFS. If your underlying OS is Solaris (for
the file server) then this should be pretty bullet-proof; if it is Linux there
are some issues with NFS file locking which would pretty much destroy any chance
of using GDBM sessions successfully where file-based sessions would work fairly
reliably.
If you use yet another machine as a SQL database server and keep any other
tables in memory then it should work well.
I have tested MV using multiple back ends and it works fine with the
file-based sessions. The front end can do a rotating or random tlink
port selection to select which server is used. Obviously there could be
some other algorithms, but that is the simplest.
A mod_minivend with rotating port assignment would be ideal, I would think.
