Is there a way to set item attributes without using a form?

hello everyone,

I was wondering if is possible to use an [order][/order] tags to order items
with multiple atributes like size or color.  for example i would have a link
for:

[order itemA]item-A, X-Large[/order]
[order itemA]item-A, Large[/order]
[order itemA]item-A, Medium[/order]

but how do i send the item-modifier information with this item.  is there an
mv_ value i can set like mv_item_modifier=XL, etc?
