What says the web server error log about the file it is trying
to find ?

MiniMate should be located within minivend/lib/MiniMate

No, MiniMate stays completely within the MiniVend installation
directory.

If your catalog's homepage is referenced by
http://www.domain.com/catalog/

MiniMate should be found as

http://www.domain.com/catalog/admin/menu.html
http://www.domain.com/catalog/config/menu.html
