Problem

I'm sorry to write about this, but I can seem to find the answers in the docs or
the faqs, I'm trying to install minivend on a Digital Unix 4.0 system, I have
perl 5.005 on it and I tried both with ./configure and make...., but in both
cases, the test part always says this:

server.......ok 1
not communicating with server
socket link..*** Exit 255
Stop.

that's not quite enough for me to go on and there isn't anything in the docs
about what to do when that part of the installation goes wrong. I haven't done
the make install yet, as this part doesn't even work, and the ./configure didn't
install anything either...
I hope I'm not imposing on you by asking for a hint, but if you have a moment,
I'm sure you have an idea about what may be going on here, can you put me on the
right track please?
