adding non-databse items to cart

Hey everyone:

here is my question... I need help with figuring out the way to add
items that are not in one of my databases to a cart...
I.e... I want to make up items as I go... specifically custom build
computers...
i.e... The item in database is:  001    <TAB>    Base Pro Series
Computer    <TAB>    $500
then after I want to be able to add this item to the cart with
MODIFIED price and description...
so.. for example if people select to add some stuff, it would put
something like this into a shopping cart:

Base Pro Series Computer                $764
    - Pentium III 500 CPU upgrade
    - 128Mb RAM
    - 10Gb Hard Drive

I know... I could have had all those 'upgrade' items in my database, and
just add them to shopping cart as separate items, however, I don't want
to do it, since it will create a mess between upgrades and items
purchased separately...

Anyway..
the question is... how to add 'made up by me stuff' to the shopping
cart?

can I maybe do something like:  [order description="shflsdfhsdfsdj
lkdslkds  sdfh k<br>lkdsfhls" price="764"] ?
