"Tolerant" search

Hi,

I would like to implement a "tolerant" search like in the following example:
If users search for "M&#252;nchen", they should get records with "Muenchen", too. 
The search have to recognize the "&#252;" (&uuml;) and then it should 
automatically search for the variation "ue".

Does anyone knows a solution?
