Don't change the file permissions without knowing why. For the cgi
program it must be setuid, The cgi program must be owned by the
minivend user and it must be setuid the minivend user. chmod 777
would have turned suid off.
# chmod 4711 simple.cgi
The socket should be mod 0500 also owned by the minivend users.

That code is for tlink, normally you run vlink which communicates
via the socket you mentioned above.
