Installing MV3.X on NFS loaded ISP virtual doamin ?
****** message to minivend-users from "ACIS Consulting Inc." <efrem@acisconsulting.com> ******
Hi All,
I am new to this list. I have been reviewing the docs and also going
through a lot of the archives on this
list. Minivend looks very interesting and the quality of the technical
info on this list encouraging.
However, I have not been able to conclude if Minivend will work for us.
Any comments on the following points much is appreciated:
0) Our estup:ISP that is hosting our virtual domain on NFS mounted disk.
FreeBSD, Perl 5.04. We have access to our own cgi-bin. We are sharing
the ISPs digital cirtificate for secure transaction using
https://www.OURISP.net/~ourcompany/cgi-bin. Our virtual domain is
http://www.ourcompany.com
We are setup as cybercash MDP which is working fine.
Now we want to offer shopping carts/stores to our clients:
1)Will minivend work in this environement ? (Our first attempt to setup
in INET mode has so far failed, the server seems to install at
http://OURISP.net:7786/mv_admin which we have no access to)
2) Should we install MV in the secure directories or does it matter ?
3) Is there anyone who is running their system in similar environemnt ?
We would like to hear from you !?
4) What could our ISP do to ensure the MV daemon is up and
running/restarted at all times ?
5) My ISP wants to know why MV needs to know where the "HTTPD.cfg" is
at install time ? He said
it is not even in the same server there is no way MV can find it. Is
there a work around for this ??
I know this is a lot of questions to ask at the same time. But you know
how it is when you are under a deadline
to get things going.
If this thing works out ok, I promise to document "Installing MV 3.x in
ISP for Dummies" and share it with the rest of you.
Cheers,
