Mvend 3.11 badsearch bug?

Has anyone come across the following:

Using the simple catalog demo unmodified, use the search function with
nothing in the search box and get back the badsearch page.

View the source and see if you get 2 complete HTML pages, one after the other?

I see 2, and it is causing some very poor looking pages to appear once you
build new stores.

Any patches/fixes would be appreciated.
