Best way for referal program and multiple entrances?

What I need is to be able to have multiple page directories.
Each department needs different search, browse, and fly page text.
And product placement is different for each, although they are all the
same site.
And share the session and data files.
What is the best way to do this?
All products in same database. products.asc?
One for each? I tried this and prices where dropped when switching
departments.
Anyone done this?

Additionally the [data session source] must pass between them all.

Is it necessary to put the [data session source] tag on more than the
/cgi-bin/index page?

Anyone have a back office referral program written or know of one?
A program that referral partners and admin can view, update all sales
and calculate % for referrals?
