perl / minivend question

I am trying to add the value of mv_handling to the shipping total
because the customers actually add the shipping amount.
(shipped on common carrier, rather then UPS / USPS etc)

What am I doing wrong,?
Is there a better way to accomplish this?
Anyone else had this problem?
Basically, I guess I do not understand Perl good enough.. Please help
I have MV3.11 and Perl 5.004
This shows up in my error log..

/cgi-bin/jobcost/process Safe: 2

I have a form field that fills in mv_handling .

Not to ask too many questions, but I also get this
 jobcost /cgi-bin/jobcost/702 Safe: 2   [price 702]="$0.00"]
because of some items that do not have a price, but are added
to the shopping cart. Is this a problem?
