minivend error log entry

******    message to minivend-users from "Russ" <russ@khouse.org>     ******

This is a minivend error log entry I found that is
completely unique.

<--snip--->
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 9cjSch5f:nobody -

>From my analysis of this error compared to other errors, it
seems to be substituting

"<P>System Requirements: WIN95 or NT; 8MB RAM (16MB
recommended); 256-color mo
nitor; 20MB free hard disk space; 2x CD-ROM drive.  MAC OS;
68040 or later (Powe
rPC recommended); System 7 or later; 8MB RAM (16MB
recommended); 256-color monit
or; 20MB free hard disk space; 2x CD-ROM drive."

for the value of [item-code]. Usually the error would say

"xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 9cjSch5f:nobody -
[24/February/1999:19:29:45 -0800] cb /cgi-bin/
cb/1234567890  Bad if 'data products::backorder::1234567890
=~ /y/i': syntax error at (eval 4
8) line 1, near "1234567890"

The reason it produced an error is this: it looks like the
product code has a space in it.
Here's the minivend tag that this is generated from.

<--snip--->
[if data products::backorder::[item-code] =~ /y/i]
<br><font size=2>This product is currently out of stock and
will be shipped with
in 1 to 6
weeks.</font>
[/if]
<--endsnip--->

I'm wondering if there's anything MAC/PC wise or browser
wise or HTTP wise that would take [item-code] and interpret
it as

"<P>System Requirements: WIN95 or NT; 8MB RAM (16MB
recommended); 256-color mo
nitor; 20MB free hard disk space; 2x CD-ROM drive.  MAC OS;
68040 or later (Powe
rPC recommended); System 7 or later; 8MB RAM (16MB
recommended); 256-color monit
or; 20MB free hard disk space; 2x CD-ROM drive."

I havn't seen anything like this before and have no idea
where it came from.
