You are right. I tried to do a:

<a href="[area href="mypage" arg="va=myvar=my text"]">

it call the page correctly (the old syntax gives errors), but the myvar is
not available via [value myvar]. It looks like the variable is part of the
URL, just way at the end if the form:

www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/vlink/mypage?IDalsaslkj;va=myvar=my%20text;123

which means that some Perl wiz could probably grab your var out the the URL.
I wish I knew of an easy way to access and parse the URL, if anyone knows a
way, please let me know.

I notices in you example (below) that the error you got was from using a
"va=var=value" was:

if ''[scratch listtype

remember that "va=var=value" goes with [value var] and [set]var[/set] goes
with [scratch var] don't get those mixed up.
