Cyrillic (8-bit ?!!) database

****** message to minivend-users from Plamen Petkov <plamendp@techno-link.com> ******

Hi,

Folks, I'm giving up ....

I can't 'search' for cyrillic... don't laugh on me... I'm not a newbiew
in Perl/locale/POSIX ..but..

No matter why (actualy, it's because of *THIS* problem), but last night
I installed a FRESH NEW 'simple' demo from MV distribution.

Then I JUST replaced some words in 'products.asc' with some CYRILLIC
text ...
Then I run the mv server...
Then I call the search form...
Then I enter THE cyrillic text to be searched...

and the results page gave me a

"No matches" answer...

I am aware exactly which field I've changed: 'artist' and that field is
marked to be searched... so no stupid errors take place here....

I have a fine running Selena Sol's Web_store here (at Home), wich works
fine, search is ok, cyrillic is ok...I have an Online bookstore based on
web_store (http://www.bgstore.com) and ... everything with cyrillic is
OK, even sorting and case sensitivity....

Huh... I realy would be happy to get MV in love with my cyrillic
database :-)

Please, help... BTW, anybody from Bulgaria, Rusia ????

plamen.

p.s. Meanwhile, I'll keep diging all available Minivend sources to find
the answer...pfiu
