Can't seem to get started.

Greetings to the list, and I crave your indulgence for what seems to be a
rather foolish question: How do I begin?

I have got (or rather, my ISP has) the server running and the sample
catalog works fine. No matter how hard I try, however, I can't figure out
to use it for my own catalog.

I have printed and read the manual, and tried several approaches to
experimenting with some of the sample files (notably flypage.html and
products.asc) so I know my mods have some effect. I have been reading the
list for a couple of weeks too, and done an archive search, and while
there is plenty of data on refining a catalog and troubleshooting an
operating one, I cannot find anything that shows one how to start with a
pile of data (mine happens to be organized in Microsoft Access, but that
isn't critical) and make all the proper bits land in the proper .asc files
- or gdbm files, or where it all has to go. 

The lack of similar messages indicates to me one of two things:

1. I am simply overlooking some section of the docs that was obvoious to
all of you, or -

2. I am too stupid to use minivend and should shell out for some package
that caters to people who don't want to learn.

I would hate for it to be (2), but if it is, I want to know before I spend
another couple weeks pounding my head agaianst a wall.
