[ic] Admin wizard saving

I'm wondering how to make values persistent within the Administration
wizard. Some values I set show up just fine in the variables database
table, while other (notably MV_PAYMENT_MODE and some custom settings)
are never saved, even after a "Save current settings" and an "Apply
changes". The variables in question are listed in do_save.html. Can
anyone explain how these values are supposed become saved into the
table?
