There is some documentation in 4.7.x, but the best docs for filters
are the source code.

Interchange will save/retrieve the nulls just fine in the database,
but that is not typically usable in other places.

Typically with multiple selects, if the values (not the labels) are
space-free you can use a null_to_space, if they are comma-free (as they
probably should be) you can use a null_to_comma filter.
