[mv] search works, but scan does not
****** message to minivend-users from "David xxxxxxx" <dxxxxxxx@bscsystems.com> ******
Hello All!
I've run into a problem trying to access the information in my products.asc
database. Here is a description of my problem. Using the "search" option
button which contains the following code, I can enter "cl101" to search for.
cl101 is the product category.
<TR><TD VALIGN=top>
<FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="[process-search]">
<TABLE WIDTH=100% CELLPADDING=1 CELLSPACING=1 BORDER=0 bgcolor="[var
BARBG]">
<TR>
<TD BGCOLOR="[var BARBG]" ALIGN=RIGHT WIDTH="100%"><FONT SIZE=2
FACE=ARIAL,HELVETICA style="text-decoration: none" COLOR="[var
BARTEXT]"><B>SEARCH</B><BR>
</FONT>
</TD>
</TR>
<TR>
<TD [var TABLEFG] ALIGN=RIGHT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE=ARIAL,HELVETICA
style="text-decoration: none"><INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="mv_searchtype"
VALUE="glimpse">
<INPUT MAXLENGTH="30" NAME="mv_searchspec" SIZE="13" VALUE=""><BR>
<FONT FACE="arial,helvetica" SIZE="-1">
<INPUT TYPE="submit" VALUE="Search"><BR>
</TD>
</TR></TABLE></FORM>
This code will return all of the correct results for the products. There
are 84 items in this category. The search will display the first 50 on page
one and the last 34 on page two. This seems to work fine.
My problem lies in the following code. This code *should*, from what I
understand, display the same results on the screen.
<TR><TD VALIGN=top [var TABLEFG] ALIGN=right width=100%><A HREF="[area scan
di=category
df=yes
dl=cl101]"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE=ARIAL,HELVETICA style="text-decoration:
none"><B>CL101 </FONT></A><BR></TD></TR>
In place of the 84 items, an error message is the result. This error
message reads "Sorry, no matches for cl101." Here is a little bit of
background on what I have found so far.
When I only had a few items in the products.asc file I encountered this same
problem. I was able to resolve the issue by deleting a file from the
catalog/products directory on the server. The filename is products.asc.8 .
After deleting this file it would bring up the correct information. Again,
this was with a smaller database. If I delete products.asc.8 with the
larger database, it seems to have no effect.
I am using Wordpad to enter the information into the products.asc file. I
thought perhaps I had a tab off or something similar. I opened the file in
Excel just to check it and the spacing and tabs all look like they are
correct.
I have searched through the documentation, FAQ, and all of the email that I
have aquired from this mailing list and haven't yet found anything to
resolve this issue.
If you have any ideas or input, or if I did not provide adequite
information, please let me know.
Thank you for your help!
Regards,
David xxxxxxx
