Actually, you might find it a bit easier than that. You can
of course add fields to userdb at any time. But when you create
a new account it auto-magically preloads those field names with
their matching user session variables. So if you just add
"name" and "address" etc. to the new account form, the
fields will get set at account creation time.
The MV4 demo will have a better illustration of this, including
an account management page with "mail my password to me" (of course
that is trivial to implement even now).
Speaking of MV4, I know I am tardy. But I am waiting for the
professionally-written manual (contracted for and under way) before
I release. I want to start it right. I cannot stand dealing with the
inevitable questions from those who ignore the protestations about
alpha or beta code. And I don't mean from the list; I mean those
who come along late in the game when someone posts it to FreshMeat
or the like.
I am already using MV4 in a couple of sites, so I think it will be ready
for prime time soon. It is as much cosmetics as code quality at this
point. 8-)
