Building an Index also helps considerably. I ran my store for a month
before I figured that one out. I don't think that simple's default
configuration has MV building an Index for the products.db. It is touched
on in the docs, but I only glazed over it a few times.
Also, cacheing pages and searches will definitely help - at least for
one-click searches that are built into your pages.
