There are some informations in mailarchiv. Look for "speed"!
Hint: Finding any items/product is very fast. Fast enought! But building
a results page need time. If you don't use the matchlimit, you get all
items in one results page. Reducing the amounts to 10 or 20 will be
increase the speed.

That's my 0.002 pence!
