Desperation: secure server made my catalog flip out

I have been having great success with MiniVend. Tonight is my first truly 
terrifying experience...

All was well with my catalog. Pages were good, one-click searches were good; 
shopping cart (ord/basket), checkout (ord/checkout), report, receipt-  all 
good! So, tonight, my ISP sets up the secure server (Ben Stronghold type). 
Once they inform me of this, I upload a changed catalog.cfg. The *only* 
change is in SecureURL. It was:
http://__SERVER_NAME____CGI_URL__
I added the 's' to make it:
https://__SERVER_NAME____CGI_URL__
I ran reconfig, and right before my eyes the whole thing blew up in my face. 
My pages started showing a bit of MiniVend markup, right through the browser 
window.(  
    [set Find+It] mv_todo="foo" [/set] ). My one-click searches (and 
form-field searches) only return:
No search page '' found!
As well, errors pop up in my error.log to tell me my special page is missing. 
(They aren't.)
Incidentally, no errors seem to coincide with the 'explosion' itself.
Also, my MiniVend generated links to other pages in the catalog no longer 
work. For example, what used to be:
http://www.titanicmemorabilia.com/cgibin/titanic.cgi/linkspage?6ci3jHat;;350
is now:

now:http://www.titanicmemorabilia.com/cgibin/titanic.cgi/href=?6ci3jHat;%22linkspage%
22;350
Obviously, that goes nowhere. (If I type it in correctly, it does bring me to 
linkspage.html)
Form submissions are a whole different story. Going from my "Go To Checkout" 
button on my shopping basket page takes me...get this... to the following 
(non-existent error-returning) URL:

URL:http://www.titanicmemorabilia.com/cgibin/titanic.cgi/ord/[process-target%20secure=1]
Notice the unparsed raw MiniVend markup at the end of the generated URL? See 
why I'm queasy at this point? But it goes on...
If I type a URL, trying to get to the checkout page, as follows, it works...
http://www.titanicmemorabilia.com/cgibin/titanic.cgi/ord/checkout
I can even get it to come up secure, by adding the 's'
https://www.titanicmemorabilia.com/cgibin/titanic.cgi/ord/checkout
But the URL's that end with 'process?sessionID' don't work at all anymore.

All since the secure server was set up!
Look, I'm sorry to go on and on like this, but I'm really hoping that  
someone will recognize these symptoms and 'give it to me straight'
Please.

(BTW, I did search maillist archives (no dice) and FAQ (my shopping cart, 
oddly enough, is unscathed)
