extra modules mvend-install prompts for, affecting speed ???

Hello,

I have customised the simple catalog to suit my company requirements.
I have used mvend 3.14-3.

While installing mvend on a local machine (redhat 4.2, perl 5.004_04),
I said no for installing the extra CPAN modules that the install program
prompted for. The install prog. says the these will make MV faster.

I found that the search of type 
page scan/sf=type/sf=subcat3/se=books/se=aaa takes arround 40+ seconds for
similar setup in mvend3.14-3 which used to take arround 10 sec on old 
mvend 2.X based catalog setup. Is this because I didn't install those modules?

I now have to install mvend on the remote server. I can install the modules 
there. But will that cause problems for running the customised catalog which 
was generated using a non-module installed mvend install?
