Problems with MiniMate authentication

Hi all..

I setup page access for MiniMate by following the directions in the FAQ. 
I setup an apache users file with the user "minivend" and the password. 
But, when I set up the .access_gate and apache.conf file according to
the MiniMate FAQ, I cannot get access to the pages.  I keep getting the
"Under construction" page.

Do I have to put an entry into the UserDB page?  I still can't figure
out why this is happening.
