I guess I don't understand the problems doing this -- there are many
ways to skin this particular cat.
I lately have implemented something like this:
CommonAdjust products:price, ==vat:tax
In the vat field you can have CommonAdjust settors like 7% or 16% based
on category. Of course you need to set a "vat" attribute in your shopping
cart based on country, but that is easy in many ways.
