I think because you cannot use SSI with CGI parsed pages... I've been
having the exact same problems... and with the same utility (AXS)...
as far as I know... SSI and CGI is incompatible..
I wrote my own little CGI proggie that accepts <img src=../../my.cgi
width=1 height=1> and logs the user... :)
