Re: free
Dear AT&T WorldNet Service Member,
Thank you for contacting the AT&T WorldNet Service Abuse Department. After
careful review of the headers that were forwarded to us, we have determined
that the junk e-mail about which you have complained does not emanate from an
AT&T WorldNet Service account. If the e-mail address identifies an AT&T
WorldNet Service Member as the source of the offensive mail, it has been forged
to implicate AT&T WorldNet Service's involvement; the e-mail actually emanates
from an account with another Internet Service Provider.
Future junk mail that you receive will originate from one of two possible
sources:
1.) If you believe the mail to be from AT&T WorldNet Service, please forward
the message(s) you are receiving, along with the entire, EXPANDED header
information to the following address:
abuse@worldnet.att.net
We take the appropriate action against such accounts.
2.) The e-mail contains "AT&T WorldNet" in the header information, but the
header information is forged to implicate AT&T WorldNet Service's involvement.
If the e-mail did not emanate from an AT&T WorldNet Service account, there is
no action we can take against the offender. If you believe the mail to be from
another ISP, please forward the message(s) you are receiving, along with the
entire, EXPANDED header information to the following address:
abuse@theirdomain.com
You can identify the originator of the spam by reading the headers. If you
need help in reading the headers, visit the URL:
http://members.tripod.com/~cyberstalked/header.htm, or
http://www.stopspam.org/
and click on the hyperlink: "Reading Email Headers".
Additionally, you should avoid replying to spam. When you respond, you are
actually increasing the likelihood that you will continue to receive more junk
e-mail. You have verified to the spammer that your address is legitimate and
your e-mail address will go on an updated mailing list, which may be sold to
other junk e-mailers, and the cycle continues. Trash all spam or forward it to
the abuse department where the spam is believed to have originated.
AT&T's WorldNet Service continues to bolster the tools and skills necessary to
eradicate the various forms of Internet abuse originating from AT&T WorldNet
Service accounts. It remains the mission of the Abuse Team to keep the
Internet clean.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please e-mail us at:
abuse@worldnet.att.net
Thank you for using AT&T WorldNet Service.
Regards,
AT&T WorldNet Service Abuse Group
