Login failure / Patch in UserDB.pm?

Hello list,

i have had some trouble with login procedure.
If user create a new account with the user name like "Hans Joachim" or
"Müller", user get always a login failure.

I have change the line 

my $GOOD_CHARS = '[-A-Za-z0-9_@.]';

to

my $GOOD_CHARS = '[-\ A-Za-z0-9ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÑÒÓÔÕÖØÙÚÛÜÝÞßàáâãäåæçèéêëìíîïðñòóôõöøùúûüýþÿ_@.]';

because in german there are a lot of people with german "umlaut"
(vowel-mutation?) and people with no computer experience, who want his
two name (i.e. "Hans Joachim") as an user name.

I have insert more special characters to allow another "umlaut"
(vowel-mutation?) in any language.

Is this patch right or is there some case agains this patch?
