I assume you mean this line.  It doesn't do anything except undefine
the session ID, because $Vend::Session doesn't exist yet. Of course
if you want to require that:

	-- users use cookies
	-- the catalog must have the secure server in the same domain
	-- the users must not use a proxy server that doesn't propagate
	   cookies

Which is what all of these gymnastics are about in the first place. 8-)
