New Account Page / Shipping Calculation Problem

Hey guys,

Thanks for the help yesterday with the SSL problem on the new accounts
page... Got that fixed...

What I would like to do now is to move the Customer Info / Billing Info to
the new accounts page. Is this possible?

This would let customers create a new account and add their address to the
database before they get to the checkout page. This would allow the checkout
page to be smaller and the main reason I would like to do this is the
shipping calculations would be right for first time visitors, unlike the way
it is now. How is everyone else handling this problem.

Right now if a new customer comes to the store and creates an account, when
he then sees the checkout page it has incorrect shipping charges because
Minivend doesn't know his address yet. This bothers me... We could
potentially loose business if our shipping looks too high, or was shown
lower on the checkout page than on the receipt page.

I'd prefer to move the Billing Address to the new accounts page, but one
thing to think about is the TAX javascript that resides on the checkout
page. It would break it to move it to new accounts, but is there a work
around?


Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated.
