Don't you need to specify:
<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=mv_searchtype VALUE="sql">
without the searchtype being sql, I don't think minivend will build an sql
select statement.

Plus you want to have the form like this:
<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="[process-search]">
