mv tags in the DB?

Has anyone ever tried using minivend tags in the database? Is there a way for them to get interpolated?

Let's say I want the description field for some, but not all, of my products to include the output of a [usertag], for example. My preliminary tests just show "blah blah blah [usertag] blah blah blah" as the output.

Any ideas?
