get you the same result, if you add a line like
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME=mv_min_string VALUE="4">
in your form-tag?
Get you the same result, if you add a searchprofile in your srchformpage
like
[set quicksearch]
mv_searchtype=text
mv_search_field=name,keywords
mv_min_string=4
[/set]
