delta additions to the products & pricing files

With MV, is it possible to add additional new records to the existing
products.gdbm file using a products.asc that contains just the new
records or does the products.asc have to be a complete replacement?  The
same question applies with the corrosponding records for pricing.gdbm..

If I CAN add new records this way, can I also use this technique to
update records records?
