Runtime error

Hello group,
I get the following error in my error.log:
Runtime error: The crypt() function is unimplemented due to excessive paranoia at /minivend/lib/Vend/UserDB.pm line 827.
I'm running Minivend 3.12 on a PII-333 with Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 and apache 1.3.6
Does anybody know how to get rid of this error???
