I reinstalled minivend and the catalog and managed to get every thing to
work.  I noticed the file permissions of the demo once installed were
read and writable by user and group not only user; I wouldnt have
thought this to be necessary as the vlink program is run set uid.  I
suspect this may have been the cause of the problem thanks lee.

The only problem I have now is with the mv_payment variable and the
shopping cart losing its contents at the checkout page.  Minivend
accepts the credit card details no problems and shows up that the form
of payment is for credit card which is sourced from the mv_payment
variable but when you hit the order button the order fails because the
mv_payment variable is undefined.

Also the shopping basket loses its contents.  If you refresh the page
before pressing the order button it comes up with the payment method as
incomplete and the shopping cart loses its contents.  The session ID
appears to be the same for all the pages and none of the pages in the
catalog are sourced from outside of minivend, however I have a different
domain for the secure server for the credit card details.

Does anyone have any advise for this particular problem?
