Shipping calculation problem - I need help!
****** message to minivend-users from "Kris Kelley" <sysadmin@jahoopa.com> ******
I apologize for repeating this question, but I have not heard any
replies, and I really need to figure out what's going on. Here's what
I have so far:

Here is some updated information about this problem.
I have moved some of the products back into the "products.asc"
database file. I have also exchanged the UPS zone file with the one
appropriate for my zip code, and updated the rates files for Ground,
Next Day Air, and 2nd Day Air.
Now, I'm no longer getting zero for shipping, and the updated rates
files are being utilized properly, but something very peculiar is
happening. The rates being calculated are inconsistent with my zone
file. For example, zip code 77339 is in Ground zone 2 according to my
zone file, but the shipping is being calculated as if it were in zone
5! A 28 pound package is therefore calculated to be $10.12 instead of
$7.08. Other zip codes are suffering the same inconsistency, but the
numbers do change, so I know the calculations are not based on the
default zip code.
Not only that, I have edited my shipping database file, instructing
MiniVend to add an extra $6 to all calculated rates, and not round any
of the values. After saving the file and even "reconfig"-ing the
shopping cart, the original calculations are still being performed!
$1 is being added to the Ground calculations, and the Next Day Air and
2nd Day Air values are still being arounded.
Utterly confused at all this, I renamed my "shipping.asc" and
"ups_zone.asc" files to names MiniVend would not recognize to see what
the program would do. Instead of crashing, MiniVend continued making
the same shipping calculations. It seems as if MiniVend is getting
shipping parameters and UPS zone information from some place other
than it should be. I've checked the configuration file "catalog.cfg",
but all the parameters appear to be set properly: UpsZoneFile was
still set to "products/ups_zone.asc", and I didn't find any way that
"shipping.asc" could be changed.
So, I'm now at a complete loss about what's happening and what to do
about it. Any help will be *greatly* appreciated. Thanks.
