Howto modify my product DB?

****** message to minivend-users from "Michael E. Havlicek" <havlicek@infinet.com> ******

Hi,

I am new to MiniVend. The package looks pretty powerful, but the documentation
doesn't seem to be self contained. I.E .. coming on board late in the game,
it is hard for me to set up MiniVend. The docs assume some knowledge of the
package gained outside the documentation, or understanding anything in the
docs requires a full read through as a prerequisite...?

I understand the idea that a little knowledge is dangerous.

In my case I am just trying to do a transform. I might be way off track,
but in my case it seems basically that TLE transforms into [] tags.

Well, it isn't that simple. The big key that will sell me is how to
integrate a custom product database into MiniVend. We currently have a linux
based front end that simply prints out pricing tables for about 4000 products.

To simplify things, I will abstract the DB to a 2 dimensional matrix....
HeHeHe ... just a grid...

Strip all the fancy talk ....

I started by hacking the sample catalog. First I want to change the "artist"
column to "manufacturer". Then I want to create a custom catalog with all
of my own fields that correspond to the existing conventions used by the
company contracting me. How do I do that? Is there documentation exlaining how
to build a catalog from scratch?
