the actual line in my minivend source file is:
[page scan/sf=title_file/tf=sort_order/se=ef/sp=showfilms/va=letter_range=E-F]
E-F[/page]
which could also be written:
[page scan
sf=title_file
tf=sort_order
se=ef
sp=showfilms
va=letter_range=E-F]E-F[/page]

sf=title_file
refers to a column in my database called title_file
in which I store the title of the films.
tf=sort_order
refers to a column in my database called sort_order.
I use this field to give me extra control over how films are listed,
which is often necessary so that films with titles that start with
"The" don't get alphabetized under "T".
se=ef
this is the text that I am searching for in the "title_file" column
sp=showfilms
this is the page on which I want my search results to appear
va=letter_range=E-F
this is a customer variable that I am setting so that on the search
results page (showfilms) I can refer to [value letter_range] and
have "E-F" appear.
hope this helps,
Stewart
