hello,
I have an approximately 23 meg session database. I've run this command and
it stays the same size.
2 Questions.
1. Is that large for a session database?
2. Why doesn't it shrink?
it just takes a long time to give me the prompt again and nothing appears to
have happened.

Have you checked your session database? Maybe it is getting big. Do you
call "expireall -r" regularly?
