Error when trying to select item from index page

I have got the minivend server running and the catalog setup. I
tried to
select one of the items from the first page and this error message
was
returned:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and

unable to complete

inform them of the
time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may
have
caused the
error.

Can anyone please tell me what to do to correct this. I am not a
programmer and am trying to set up this to run a retail website.

I have the system configured as follows:
Linux  Debian Slink 2.1 SMP
kernel ver. 2.2.1
all cgi scripts located /usr/lib/cgi-bin

Any help is greately appreciated.
Also are there any chat groups for Minivend?
