It's best to have it in the boot sequence, however if you periodically run
a check script via cron to restart MiniVend, that will accomplish the same
thing - it will start MiniVend the first time the check script runs after
the machine reboots.
On most UNIX systems "crontab -e" will let you edit your cron entries,
you'll want to do "man cron" to check the syntax for your system.
