Ryan,

Use DBI::DBD (which just happens to be what MV uses :) to access mysql
from perl.  How it all works will be *much* clearer if you use normal
perl scripts and DBI::DBD to work with your database.  Once you have
the DB figured out then you can start using it effectively with MV.
